Kepnock Senior Boys Lead the Way During Men's Health Week

Kepnock State High School's senior boys took a leading role in this year's Men's Health Week, helping to promote important conversations around wellbeing, connection and positive mental health.

Throughout the week, students were encouraged to reflect on a range of topics that contribute to healthy lifestyles and strong mental wellbeing. Each day focused on a different theme, including speaking up and seeking support, the benefits of sport and physical activity, the positive impact of music, healthy nutrition, and the importance of positive role models.

Senior students Coen and Riley delivered daily messages to their peers, sharing practical advice and encouraging fellow students to prioritise their wellbeing. Their leadership helped create meaningful discussions around men's health while reinforcing the message that seeking support is a sign of strength.

"A lot of people think they have to handle everything themselves, but that's not true. Talking to someone you trust can really help, and that's one of the biggest messages we wanted students to take away from the week," said Coen.

Riley said Men's Health Week provided an opportunity to encourage students to support one another and look after their wellbeing.

"Everyone goes through tough times at some point. Men's Health Week gave us a chance to remind people that asking for help isn't a weakness—it's actually one of the strongest things you can do," he said.

The week highlighted the many ways young men can support their mental health, from staying active and making healthy lifestyle choices to building strong friendships and maintaining connections with trusted adults. Students were reminded that wellbeing is not built through one single action, but through a combination of healthy habits, positive relationships and a willingness to reach out when support is needed.

The initiative also recognised the important role that sport, music, nutrition and positive role models play in supporting young men's mental health and creating a strong sense of belonging within the school community.

The week concluded with a reminder that strong men are not those who never face challenges, but those who have the courage to connect with others, seek help when needed and look after both themselves and those around them.

Kepnock SHS would like to thank Coen, Riley and all students and staff who contributed to Men's Health Week and helped foster positive conversations about men's health and wellbeing across our school community.
