Kepnock State High School is well regarded for its Student Services and Support programs. The Student Services Department provides numerous avenues of support to Kepnock students, staff and families.

Six teaching staff provide pastoral care as Year Coordinators for each year level. Year Coordinators are usually the first contact point for students seeking support with matters such as school issues, peer relationships or family matters.

Students at risk of disengaging from school are referred to the Head of Department Student Services who assesses their individual circumstances and needs and develops a program of intervention.

The Guidance Officer is available for personal counselling as well as education and training and careers advice.

Kepnock High is blessed to have the services of a School Chaplains courtesy of the Scripture Union. Our Chappies are always here to lend an ear and offer support in times of need. They organise daily Breakfast Club, lunchtime activities as well as spiritual support where it is specifically sought. The Chappies also attend excursions and camps.

Our School-Based Police Officer has a pro-active role in our school, operating in classrooms and on student assemblies to educate students about aspects of the law. Our aim is to promote positive relationships between the school, our families and the Police Force and ensure that our youth grow to be responsible law-abiding citizens.

The School-Based Health Nurse provides support and advice to students on a range of health-related matters which enables them to make considered decisions in relation to leading a healthy lifestyle. The SBHN also assists in the classroom and on assemblies by raising the awareness of young people in relation to particular health matters.

The Student Services Department accesses the services of a number of external agencies such as IMPACT, Youth Support Counsellors and the Salvation Army’s Tom Quinn Centre to provide alternate programs for students at-risk of disengaging from school.
