Kepnock State High School is proud to join the statewide celebration of Queensland Mental Health Week, which takes place from October 7th to 15th, 2023. This annual event provides a platform to raise awareness about mental health and wellbeing while working to reduce the stigma associated with mental health conditions.

This year's theme, 'Awareness, Belonging, Connection,' emphasizes the essential factors that contribute to positive mental health. Kepnock SHS is taking active steps to foster these elements within our school community.

Highlighting Mental Health on October 11th

On Wednesday, October 11th, during the first break both inside and outside the RJ Young Hall, Kepnock SHS will promote positive mental health. Students and staff are encouraged to come together, engage in conversations, and connect with various support staff members from our school, including the School-Based Police Officer (SBPO), Guidance Officers, Chaplain, support staff, social worker, school nurse, psychologist, and other Student Services staff.
This unique opportunity allows students and staff to ask questions, gather information related to mental health, and explore external mental health services. In addition to these resources, there will be a free ice block giveaway to refresh and invigorate.

Brightening the Message with Colors

Our Kepnock State High School staff members are encouraged to wear bright and/or Mental Health awareness-themed clothing on Wednesday, October 11th. By doing so, they will actively contribute to spreading a positive mental health message and raising awareness within our school community.

Mental Health Matters to Everyone

Mental health affects people from all walks of life, and it is important to remember that about half of all Australians will experience mental health challenges in their lifetime, with one in five facing them in any given year. By participating in Queensland Mental Health Week, Kepnock SHS strives to create an inclusive and compassionate environment where everyone feels supported and understood.
We look forward to coming together as a school community to promote 'Awareness, Belonging, Connection' during Queensland Mental Health Week. By engaging in open conversations and providing valuable resources, Kepnock SHS hopes to make a positive impact on the mental health and wellbeing of our students and staff.

Let's join hands to foster a culture of mental health awareness, support, and understanding at Kepnock State High School and beyond. Together, we can make a difference.
