Bring Your Own Device to School (BYOx)

Kepnock State High School is committed to maximising the use of current and emerging technologies within our classrooms to provide positive learning educational benefits. Learning and innovation skills are what separate students who are prepared for increasingly complex life and work environments in today’s world and those who are not.

In previous years Kepnock has offered a one-to-one laptop program for students in Year 9 – 12 under the National Secondary School Computer Fund (NSSCF) scheme provided by the federal government. This initiative is no longer provided and as a consequence these devices will no longer be sustainable.

At Kepnock we encourage students to participate in one of two programs:
• Bring your own device (whereby student can bring a device from home to use at school) see the student charter (PDF 914 KB) for a comprehensive outline of the program for a comprehensive outline of the program.for a comprehensive outline of the program for a comprehensive outline of the program.
• Take home Laptop Program (whereby students hire a 5 year old NSSCF laptop for the year – these devices are limited and will be phased out in 2017)
Over the next 1 – 2 years the majority of school owned devices will decrease and the expectation is that students will bring their own ICT device to school. During this transition time there will be limited access to ICT devices around the school.
