The Humanities department is large, dynamic and diverse.

Each year all students in Years 8 & 9 study a semester of History and a semester of Geography.  History topics covered include Ancient Egypt, China and Rome, Middle Ages and World Wars while Geography looks at Australia, Antarctica, deserts and rainforests.  Assessment is aimed at developing subject specific skills and basic literacy and numeracy.

In Year 10 students choose between Geography, History or Global Studies.  Subjects are aimed at preparing students for senior studies.  Topics are varied, interesting and topical while assessment prepares students for the rigor of senior studies.

In Years 11 & 12 the board registered humanities subjects which contribute to a student's OP are Ancient History, Modern History, Geography, Study of Society and Legal Studies.  All subjects allow students to develop a high degree of knowledge but more importantly skills in researching, analysing decision making and communicating.  These skills are especially relevant for any student thinking of university study, regardless of the type of course.  In the Senior School a Certificate II in Tourism Operations is also offered.

Humanities subjects give students the opportunity to explore and investigate the world in which they live, analyse issues and make decisions about the future.  Because the Humanities deal with people and the world they live in, their study and the skills they provide will always be relevant.
